Oil on canvas by French artist Èdouard Leon Cortès (1882-1969) of Paris at dusk with the Arc de Triomphe in the background. Cortes was from a family of artists, his father was an artist for the royal court in Spain. Èdouard's works are in numerous public and private collections around the world. The artist has captured a soothing mood with the sunlight breaking through over the rain-soaked Paris streets. The painting is in very good condition with no evidence of restoration or overpaint. There is a small pinhole in the lower left quarter, consistent with the artist's practice. Signed, lower right, 1908-1925. Stamped, "(Toronto)", on a label on the back of the frame.

The frame needs restoration, damage to the lower right and lower left with additional scattered surface chips (all frame).
