Description
Picton, Ontario. 1855-1864. Samuel Skinner was the second in a succession of potters to operate the business in Picton that was originally founded by William Hart in 1859 and during his tenure the business produced some of its best decorations. The trees-of-life are highly prized and are the centrepiece of many great collections. This one is fantastic because the decoration fills the whole front of the crock. Stamped, "S. Skinner & Co. / Picton. C.W. / 3".

Excellent condition. The scattered brown spots occurred during the manufacturing process.

Salt-glazed stoneware.
