Description
Fergus, Ontario. 1860s. William Pattison established his general store in Fergus around 1853 and gradually expanded his product offerings as the business grew, and operated continuously until he died in the 1890s, after which time his wife took over ownership for a time. The features of this great little quarter-gallon suggest it was made at the Brantford Pottery during Franklin Goold's tenure as owner. Stamped, "W. Pattison / Dealer In Staple & Fancy / Dry Goods Groceries & Liquors / Fergus C.W.".
Condition
Excellent condition, with only a tiny spot of chipping left side bottom edge of spout.
