Measuring tapes first came into use in the 1700s for the purpose of tailoring, with most becoming popular in the 1920s. They have cloth measures that pull out and often are in the design of animals, children, or adults. Tape measures, on the other hand, like those we all use in our homes, are made primarily of metal with retractable metal spring locks. Lot consists of 8 human figures and 4 animal figures. Marked, "Germany" or "Made in Occupied Japan", on underside or lower portion of figure of some. Most are unmarked.

Good condition. Minor wear to the bases. Cloth tape, in girl with yellow dress, does not retract. God figure missing cloth tape. Uncle Sam's figure is a porcelain figure with no measuring tape.
