British. C. 1884. The format of the company name (Barclay, Curle & Co. Ltd.) reveals it to be established in Glasgow in 1884. Plaques like this were often attached on the outside of a corporate office, evidenced by the use of brass, which, unlike other materials, is durable and can withstand exposure to various elements.

Polished. No surface remains in lettering. Later mounted to wood slab for display purposes.
