Canadian. 1941-1942. By artist Charles Wilcox. This propaganda poster reflects the Canadian support of Britain during the Second World War. The lion represents Britain, with it's crown symbolizing the British monarchy. It has a cigar in its mouth, giving reference to British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The beaver is marching with the lion and represents Canada united with Britain against the enemy. Issuer's mark on lower border with printers mark ("DPI" - Director of Public Information) named at lower right . Marked "UE-4L" at lower right border. Signed by the artist at lower left corner under beaver's foot.
