Description
Marshalltown, Nova Scotia. Early 1960s. The simplicity and strong graphic presence of this Maud Lewis harbour scene image is striking. Here, Maud depicts two fishing boats tied to the wharf next to two barrels on the dock, with yachts in the distance. In this rare vantage point of the harbour, balance is perfectly achieved. Signed "Lewis" at lower right. The irregular size of the board suggests that this work is among Lewis' earlier works.
