Description
Marshalltown, Nova Scotia. 1965-1966. An exceptional example of Maud's iconic image depicting two deer in winter on a well-trodden path. In this case Lewis vicariously shows her admiration of the sunset through a buck and doe overlooking the village in the Yarmouth-Digby area of Nova Scotia. Boldly signed lower right, "Maud. Lewis".
Condition
In excellent condition. Vibrant colour. There is a faint constellation of pinpoint specks to the middle left of the right side tree. Another miniscule spot is visible in the sunset near the tips of the lower branches on the second tree from the left.
Medium
Mixed media on pulpboard (beaver board).
Provenance
Purchased directly from the artist by a descendent of the owner.
