Montreal, Quebec. C. 1940. A rare and exceptional early pair of carvings by Paul Archibald Caron. They date from early in the last century and they clearly influenced the school of art in Quebec. His influence can be seen in the works of many Quebec artists. The man is wearing a heavy winter coat and stopping to light his pipe. The woman is carrying a goose. Carving of woman with "Returning from Market" written on base and signed on side of base "Copyright by Paul Caron". Carving of man is unmarked.
