Montreal, Quebec. 1942. A rare, early and classically styled carving of a Quebec fiddler seated in a chai, playing his fiddle. Soucy made carvings of people, animals and traditional Quebec religious and historical scenes, often working in hard woods. Signed "Elz-Soucy 1942" on side of base.
Condition
Good overall condition, with old shrinkage cracks. Bow present but not attached.
