Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec. C. 1950. Medard Bourgault was the eldest of the three carver Bourgault brothers of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli Quebec. By 1927 he was carving full time. In 1929, he began the school of wood carving in St-Jean-Port-Joli. He is best known for his religious carvings. This is an early and expressive carving of the crucified Christ on a Y-shaped cross, wearing the crown of thorns. Marked "P2305-071221-0" on back of cross.
Condition
Good condition overall. Spikes missing on feet.
