Description
Cacouna, Quebec. C. 1990. Levesque, an artist from Cacaouna, Quebec, created painted carvings of birds, animals and people in everyday situations. His style was considered primitive. This version of a mother hen and her four chicks is "chunky" by nature. His work is boldly dated and initialled, rather unusual as his work was often unsigned. His work is honest, direct, very powerful and often exaggerated as illustrated in this carving. Signed "1990 F.L." on front of base.
