Description
Canadian. Possibly Paris, Ontario. 1870s. Great colour and condition on this oval frame from the W. Schlombs collection who attributed it to Jacob Ahrens, Paris, Ontario. Ahrens was creating Rockingham glazed redware frames in the 1860-70s and exhibited one in Paris, France, at the Universal Exhibition of 1878.
Condition
A couple of small chips are evident along the outer edge and a very small glaze flake can be seen on the face of the frame. Two larger chips exist on the back side. Overall, extremely good condition.
