Description
Brantford, Ontario. 1860s-90s. A rare and exceptional stoneware picture frame made by John Marx during one of his stints working in Brantford. Although not marked "Brantford", this signed frame with its lattice design and dark glaze is very similar to the example in the Canadian Museum of History (Harbinson collection) that is signed "John Marx / Brantford". An intricate and beautiful piece. Signed, "John Marx", on reverse.
Condition
Excellent condition. Minor glaze chips on three lobes lower left.
