A compelling Grenfell hooked rug in excellent condition with subtle combinations of colour and shadows. Known as "Shadows", the image is based on an expedition where a komatik was used to bridge a gap in the ice, as recalled in the design by New England artist Stephen Hamilton (1909-1993) who spent several years in Labrador at the Grenfell Mission in the early 1940s.
