Description
An exquisitely carved 18th century oak box with a hinged top but having a carved thumb depression to give the appearance of a slide-top lid. Interior lined with red felt. A masterful demonstration of the carver's skill with different intricate motifs on each panel. The date 1743 and multiple letters are carved in a centre band on the top. English or American.
