Description
Many consider the Indian "4" the Duesenberg of motorcycles. The Indian "4" was built by the Indian Motorcycle Company from 1928 to 1942. The Indian "4" is named because of its signature four cylinder engine. The Indian "4" was the luxury offering of motorcycles made by the Indian Motorcycle Company. This bike was made to fly. It is comprised of a 1,265 cc F-head engine in its Scout frame. Roughly 5000 Indian 4 motorcycles were manufactured during their 15 year run. Serial number on engine case: DC1540.
Condition
The bike was professionaly restored over 35 years ago. The original seat tells the story on the bike. There is a significant scratch with paint loss on the top of the gas tank. The engine turns over but has not been tested.
Provenance
Both this motorcycle and the 1953 Indian Chief Roadmaster were prominently displayed as fixtures in the Indian Cafe in Toronto, Canada. Howie purchased the motorcycles from the Cafe's owner, Fuss Cooper. The Howie Meyer Legacy Collection.
