Description
Marshalltown, Nova Scotia. 1967. Maud's cats were always named Fluffy. She spoke fondly of her cats and the joy they gave her. Here Fluffy the white cat peers at its admirer with a happy standing tail among red, yellow, and green flowers, butterflies, and balls of yarn with knitting needles. This work shows the joy and whimsy of Canada's most recognized folk artist, Maud Lewis. Maud's love affair with cats along with her ability to evoke joy come together in this rare variation of a serial image that is found only in the 1960s. Signed, "Maud Lewis", lower right.
