Description
Halifax, Nova Scotia. 1977. Joe Sleep had a love of horses when he was working at the Bill Lynch Shows, where he held a job for thirty-two years. This horse is shown in profile, but with the head turned towards the viewer. The figure is set against white ground surrounded by drapery painted in yellow, brown, and blue-green, and in its original painted wood frame. Work by Joe Sleep is included in the collections of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Dalhousie University Art Gallery, National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Museum of History. Signed and dated, "Joseph Sleep 1977", on front.
