Description
Canadian. Circa 1815. Mahogany veneer with brass dial. James Hanna (1737-1807) and his son, James Godfrey Hanna (1788-1851) were watch and clockmakers in Quebec City in the 18th and 19th centuries. The tapered waist case, gothic panelled door, and quarter columns are characteristics common to a number of early tall case clocks originating from the province of Quebec in Canada. Dial signed, "James Hanna Quebecc" [sic].
Condition
Original finish. Scattered minor veneer losses, mainly around the feet. This clock was running at the time of cataloguing, but its service history is unknown.
