2 England. 3rd Quarter 19th century. Brace: brass and rosewood or ebony. Scribe: brass, rosewood and mahogany. Fine quality drill brace of the Victorian period, of traditional form together with a Victorian period rosewood and mahogany scribe with brass inlay. Knob embossed, "William Marples Hibernia Works Sheffield". Also marked, "William Marples Sole Manufacturer / The Ultimatum Frame Brace / Sheffield" and "By Her Majesty's Royal Letters Patent". Each component of the scribe is stamped, "A. Milne".

Brass inlay missing from knob handle.
