American. 1890s. Cast iron. This architechtural still bank was issued by The St. Clair Company Bank of Port Huron, Michigan to encourage family savings. It features four individual coin slots that empty into four individual chambers within. Multiple family members could use this bank, keeping their savings separate until it was unlocked at the bank for deposit in the respective accounts. Left side is embossed "Patent Pending". Embossed on top, "Pat'd Apl.d for".
Condition
Weld repairs to door hinges. Retains original wood and tin inserts. Uniform surface oxidation.
