Description
Canadian. Waterloo County. c1830. Pine. Exceptional Waterloo County, Ontario two-piece corner cupboard with six lights per door in the upper section; the top lights with half round arch profile. Three drawers above two doors in the lower section. All doors and drawers framed by beading. With applied waist mouldings above and below the drawers. Two lower doors each have two vertical raised panels. The integral base features full height feet and fully intact scrolled apron. The top section features butterfly shelves and cut out spoon holders. Cast iron hinges, brass pulls and door latches. Bears oval stamp from the "Country Heritage Loan Exhibition, Montgomery Mills, Toronto, Ont, Oct. 1974, No. 63".
Condition
This cupboard retains its original muted red and amber paint. The interior overpaint was removed to powder blue by Alan Clairman. One minor section of trim has been replaced on the upper right return.
