Two (2). (1) Canadian or American. (2) Canadian. Toronto. Attributed to Cliff Avan (1888-1965). (1) Early 20th century. (2) 1955. Carved and painted softwood. (1) Black duck decoy in grey and black paint. Tack eyes. Retains lead weight on underside of base. (2) Black duck decoy with green bill and glass eyes. Very fine detail and execution to the painted feathers. Excellent original paint and structure. Circa 1955.
Condition
(1) Exhibits light surface losses and wear but overall, very good. (2) Excellent condition. No signs of working life.
