Description
English. 1980s. Solid resin. This is a multi piece solid resin aircraft model. Wings and horizontal stabilizers separate from model – Three pronged trip-pod stand elevates model about 4” in level flight mode with a slight nose down attitude. Stand detaches from model. Although the aircraft registration C-GAUN (fin #604) is not visible on the model, this is the exact aircraft model and type and in the same livery as the famous “Gimli Glider that Capt. Bob Pearson glided in to a “dead stick” powerless landing onto a crowded drag strip in Gimli Manitoba in 1982. Made by Space Models Limited, Middlesex, England. Model Condition – Good, classic red Air Canada livery from the 1980s. Paint and decals are in great condition. Airplane model's wings are a different shade of grey finish and there is some wear-away or minor pitting of the finish on the upper wings. Paint shade is different from the paint on the horizontal stabilizers and lower half of body. This can easily be remedied if you have the skill or know someone who does this. The starboard horizontal stabilizer fits rather loosely into the fuselage slot, although it keeps its correct angle in the slot. It appears a small piece of the tab is missing on the stabilizer and appears to be wedged into place in the slot. You would only know this after removing the stabilizer. The three pronged tripod stand looks as if it has been repaired (re-welded or re-soldered), which may explain why the aircraft model sits on the stand in a slight nose down attitude. The stand's prong fit into the fuselage hole could be a little more snug. Scale 1/100. Model Length 18 1/2”. Model Wingspan 19”.
