Description
American. 1929. Reach Official American League Ball. Includes a letter of authenticity from James Spence Authentication from November, 2022. The ball features 24 signatures. The Babe Ruth and Waite Hoyt signatures were deemed by JSA as Club House, or "ghost" signed. All other signatures are authentic including Hall of Famers Lou Gehrig, Earle Combs, Tony Lazzeri, Leo Durocher, Bill Dickey and Herb Pennock. The ball exhibits light uniform toning and minor surface abrasions. The signatures range in clarity from bold and highly visible to slightly faded, but still visible. This baseball has been retained by the family since it was signed by members of the New York Yankees in 1929. William Audley "Huck" Caesar - a talented and aspiring young ball player took a trip to New York in 1929 to discuss a tryout with the Yankees. Although no offer was extended, "Huck" returned with a ball signed by many from the team. "Huck" continued to play intermediate baseball in Canada upon his return and was inducted into the Collingwood Sports Hall of Fame in 1974. 3" diameter.
