Description
Canadian. 1920s. Painted cast iron. Made by the Beaverton Toy Company, Beaverton, Ontario. Jumbo was a famous circus elephant that was struck by a train and killed in St. Thomas, Ontario in 1885. Place a coin in the end of the trunk, push down the tail and the trunk moves upwards and deposits the coin into the head slot. Painted variation. Embossed, "Made in Canada" (left side) and "Jumbo Bank" (right side) on the red blanket. Excellent condition in original paint. From the Graham J.F. Jones Collection. 4 7/16" x 8.5" x 2.5".
