Quebec. Ca: 1920. An exuberantly decorated pine shelf in red, black and cream paint. A great shelf, fully carved and decorated with a complex composition of crosshatched carving, scalloping and painted decoration. The central image features two birds perched over a nest. The back with inset photo portrait of a child (one photo now missing) and pieces of mirror. Minor loss to one bracket, and to a single side of the gallery. 15(H) x 25.5(W) x 9.5(D)".
