Swiss. 1890s. In good cosmetic condition. A late-style cylinder box with zither attachment designed to produce a banjo-like emphasis to the sound. There is an inscription on the movement; "USA Patent, Sep 25, 1894". This patent was for the fork claw with the bar spindle attached to the spring barrel housing. The box is finished in faux-wood grain stain, while the lid is of rosewood with banding and attractive inlay. Horseless Carriage Museum, Fenelon Falls, Ont. 7 x 26.5 x 11".
