Description
American. c1911. A fine example of Edison's top-of-the-line phonograph, with its "luxury" features of smooth mahogany horn, brown-enamelled bedplate and tiger-striped hardware, including its Diamond A reproducer, introduced in 1912 for playing the new celluloid Blue Amberol cylinders. Also included is the Opera's original earlier Model L reproducer that plays both black wax Amberol and Blue Amberol cylinders. A novel feature of this phonograph was the ability to mount the lid with the horn in place. SN 2878. Case and hardware in very good cosmetic condition, but some wear to the mandrel. The horn elbow shows considerable paint loss, while the horn itself is very presentable, but does show some seam openings. Cabinet and cylinders in good condition. Comes with a mahogany cylinder cabinet/phonograph stand with four drawers and approx 97 Blue Amberol cylinders in boxes. Horseless Carriage Museum, Fenelon Falls, Ont. Offered subject to reserve. 21.25 horn. 32.5 x 18 x 12".
