Description
American. 1880s. Walnut case with reverse painted glass tablets. Mechanically functioning. Very rare. The lower glass displays a new message every thirty seconds. A secondary mechanism drives a rotating wheel of painted scrolls which drop into view each cycle. The clock displays twenty different images. Originally from a pharmacy in Uxbridge, Ontario. Tagged, "Akin Advertising Clock Co. 7 Murray Street, New York" rear glass. Horseless Carriage Museum, Fenelon Falls, Ont. 38 x 19.5 x 11".
