Description
Stamped "From / W. Forbes / Grocer & General Dealer / Insurance Agent / Grimsby C.W." Highly unusual to see an insurance agent referenced on a piece of stoneware. A fine vertical hairline crack runs from the rim down through the words "grocer, insurance and Grimsby" terminating just above the base. The same crack, evident inside the crock, has been professionally restored and coloured. One large and several smaller potstone chips exist inside of the crock. Salt-glazed stoneware.
