Already a successful Chicago manufacturer of drive shafts, sheep shears and more, John Stewart decided to add phonographs to his range, setting up a Toronto factory in addition to the Chicago facility. This particular tin plate model was made in both locations in several colours; mahogany wood grain finish being found most often on the Toronto machines.
