Description
An early show towel with pink and green stitching on linen by Eva Elisabed Hasiddigin Hesles. Show towels, like samplers, demonstrate a young girl's talent in tatting and embroidery. In this example, the upper section shows her name, the middle section shows the alphabet and date of 1837 along with deer, people, a swan with a crown, a heart, and a heart with a crown. The third and fourth section contains linked text roughly translated as "the blood of Jesus Christ God's son makes us clean from all sins Amen." Found in the Guelph area but attributed as Pennsylvania German. Interpretive notes by Nancy-Lou Patterson included. 49" x 11". CODE-TEX
