Description
37mm case diameter. A Tourbillon is not something one has opportunity to encounter every day. This beauty is the Cartier Diabolo Tourbillon. First, let's just list the attributes which work together to make this more of a work of art than a watch: 18kt yellow gold case. Sapphire case back with 8 screws. Sapphire set winding crown and lug screws. Classic straight lugs. Gently rounded bezel. Guilloché silver dial with painted radial Roman numerals. Secret Cartier signature on one of the Roman numerals. See if you can spot it. 64 hour power reserve scale. Aperture for the visible tourbillon. Blued steel Breguet hands. Cal. 102, gilt brass, fully engraved, 39 jewels. Lateral lever escapements. Monometallic balance. Self-compensating balance springs. 22K gold rotor. Rounding out this impressive list is of course, the one minute tourbillon regulator with polished steel carriage. It is hard to talk about this watch without simply gushing over its beauty and rarity. Produced in limited numbers through the mid to late 1990's, this model has been going up in value as watch collectors scramble to add unique pieces to growing collections. This watch was serviced and refinished by Cartier in Switzerland in December of 2018. It comes with service papers and box, as well as a new unworn strap. The watch was found to be running at the time of cataloguing. It has not been tested for timekeeping accuracy and may require adjustment. CODE:WRI
