Description
Canadian. Circa 1851-1879. See "The Canadian Gunsmiths 1608-1900" by S. James Gooding page 270. Breech Loading 45-70 & 16 gauge. Serial 103. Includes large bullet mold stamped, "Marston". Locks marked, "MARSTON". Barrel rib marked, "WP MARSTON PATENT July 12 ,1876 TORONTO". 28 1/4", .44 calibre rifled barrel beside a 12 gauge smooth bore. Barrels are smooth with minimal marks. The walnut stock with worn checkering shows blemishes and evidence of being broken through the wrist. The barrel pivots sideways to expose the breech. The rifle bore is clean with rifling present. The shotgun bore is clean. Action is tight when closed. Locks function properly. Don and Joyce Blyth collection.
