Canadian. Circa 1854-1868. Whitworth rifling. See "The Canadian Gunsmiths 1608-1900" by S. James Gooding, page 100 and "Canadian Journal of Arms Collecting" Vol 5, Issue 3. Lock marked, "J. Grainger & Son Toronto". 32 1/8”, .42 calibre barrel. Whitworth rifling barrel shows minimal wear and contact marks. Walnut stock shows light contact marks with strong checkering at the wrist and fore-end. Flip-up rear sight with sliding elevation bar. Steel furniture. Lock functions properly.
