Canadian. Circa 1858-1879. For patent see "The Canadian Gunsmiths 1608-1900" by S. James Gooding, pages 272 and 273. Marked between the nipples, "M MATER PATENT CHIPPEWA C W 34". 27 3/8”, .70 calibre barrel (just under 12 gauge). Barrels shows light contact marks. Walnut stock shows light contact marks. The swiveling barrels are indexed by a flat spring beside the triggers. The spring-loaded patch box is activated by pulling a catch in the butt plate. Locks function properly.
