Folk Art hooked rug. Late 19th-early 20th century. The predominantly cotton rug is on a burlap foundation, The design organized horizontally with single fan border to top and double fan border to bottom. The central square featuring potted flowers. The left side with a bird, potted flowers and charmingly shaped small dog. The right side with potted flowers, initials “L.R.” with bird above and a dog. With effective colour palette of off-white, light brown, various reds, black, brown and some blues. Now mounted to a cotton back and the whole fixed to a fabric covered strong wooden frame. 28 x 73".
