English. 1913. Cast iron frame with brass and steel components. Cast iron dial set with milk glass panels, intended to be backlit. The clock originally served the town of Bowmanville mounted atop the post office at the corner of King St. and Temperence St. from 1912 until 1965. When the building was torn down, the clock was rescued and restored. Includes newspaper articles describing the clock's Bowmanville, Ontario history. Tagged, "J. Smith & Sons Midland Clock Works, Derby, Eng" front frame. 20 x 37 x 21". Pendulum 60" in length. Dial 48" (diam.). Mechanically functioning. Requires weight wire. Dial exhibits three cracked panels and requires one panel. CODE:CLO
