Description
Toronto & Keswick, ON. Circa 1880s-1940s The actual maker of this rare, important and fine example of an early gunning Long Tailed Duck from the 1st quarter of the 20th century has been narrowed to the Clark(e) family, likely Jimmy or William. Regardless, it is an outstanding example of Clark(e) paint and carving detail of an adult “Quandy”, the name market gunners from Ashbridge’s Bay, Toronto used to identify this late season resident of Lake Ontario. See page 115 of Traditions in Wood by P. Fleming for a skiff load of “Quandy” decoys. The Crier – Clark(e) mystery has been solved by decoy historian Keith Avan of Toronto. 6.25 x 14 x 5.5" CODE:FIREA
