Description
Stamped, "Harding Bros. Wine & Spirit Merchants Guelph, Ont.". 9 x 4.5" (diam). The Harding Brothers were successors to Jeremiah Hallett (who was formerly in a partnership with Daniel Jackson (Jackson & Hallett) from 1871 until 1896 on Wyndham St.) The Harding's store was located on Woolwich St. from 1897-1899, then at 17 Wyndham St. from 1900-1910 and finally at 68 MacDonnell St. from 1912-1913. While on MacDonnell, their warehouse and bottling facilities were at 19 Gordon St. Two-tone transfer printed jug exhibits a small void (manufacturing flaw) on the front. The faint line just under the shoulder on the right side is a very slight separation in the clay and not a crack. Slight glaze crazing apparent in several areas would have occurred during the firing process. CODE:POT
