Description
A cast iron mechanical bank with a bird feeding its young, manufactured by J. E. Stevens, patent date January 23, 1883. Place a coin in the bird's mouth, press the lever and the bird leans towards the nest, while the fledglings open their mouths and the coin is deposited. Well used with wear to the original paint, white glass eyes on the bird with movable wings. Note the yellow hedgehog poking his head out from under the brush. Very good condition. Late 19th century.
