Description
A Western Cree pipe bag with a beaded floral panel of red flowers with blue centres, purple flowers with yellow centres and a blue leaf all on a white ground, with fringe and the name Robinson in blue beads. This bag was collected by Arthur Procter, a British Columbia doctor who worked on contract for Canadian Pacific and, according to family history, received this bag as payment for medical services in the early 20th century. The top edge is scalloped and lined with red trade cloth and adorned with blue beads (some fraying to cloth and bead loss on the edge, otherwise very good condition. The reverse side also has a beaded floral panel but with minor bead loss; edges of the pouch are yellow and blue beaded stripes. With fringe, currently mounted in a plexiglass case. 1890-1900.
