Description
American. Circa 1890s Designed for use over a gaslight, which illuminated the dial for nighttime visibility. The swing out arm provides some level of adjustability. Although the clock is wall-mounted it is also detachable to be used as a travelling clock. When it was used for travelling, it would have been carried in its own case (not present). There are provisions for a candle so the clock could be visible at night. Fixed to walnut display stand. 14 x 8 x 4". Mechanically functioning. Cathy & Gerry Koolen Collection. CODE:CLO
