Description
1850s. A sofa or settle from Saint John County, New Brunswick. Vaughn Family (shipbuilders), 232 Main Street Saint Martins, New Brunswick (now the "Fundy Special Care Home"). This arrow-head spindled version has a deliberatily inverted spindle. This was intended to demonstrate the Christian tradition that, "Only God is perfection". Condition: Very Good. Two steel "L" brackets reinforce the legs. The cushion is a later replacement from what was likely oil-cloth. 82.5" wide x 30" high x 26" deep. CODE-FUR.
