Description
Circa 1929. Henry R. Howchin, listed in 1923 City of Toronto directory (p.1053) as "artist, Massey-Harris". Oil-On-Board Signed lower right, "H.R. Howchin" H.R. Howchin is one of Canada's professional 20th Century illustrative artists. He was employed as an in-house artist for Massey-Harris. His paintings were showcased annually on its illustrative advertising calendars. He is known for his pastoral and patriotic scenes. Also included, one calendar and another original contemporary printed piece of M-H calendar art, each showing Howchin's signature. Sight 22.5" x 26". Untouched original condition. No restoration. Acquired from the Estate of Kenneth C. Easton, Head of Purchasing & Personnel, Massey-Harris. Easton received painting on August 3rd, 1929 as a wedding gift directly from Howchin. Est. $2000-3000.
