Description
French. WW1. Model "M15" helmet, created in 1915 primarily for trench warfare. Made of lighter-weight steel for protection from shrapnel injury. Conservation in metal made it less expensive to produce so other countries followed suit. The "Flaming Bomb" and grenade insignia represented infantry and cavalry, while "RF stands for "French Second Republic". Helmet measures 11" x 8" x 6" (h). Minor impressions to helmet, leather within is soiled, dry. Period cigarette packs included retain original cigarettes. CODE-MIL
