Description
Canadian. Circa 1890s. Framed lithograph. Tuckett & Billing, Hamilton Ontario. Very rare, with only two examples known. A spectacular example of early chromolithography featuring "two boys" with expressions of "pain" versus "luxury" in smoking "other brands" versus "T&B". Signed, "The Duncan Lithographing Company, Hamilton, Ont" lower center edge. 29" x 22.5" sight. Professionally linen-backed. A few scattered punch repairs with inconspicuicous touchups. Frame is a later replacement. This lithograph originates from "Jack Ryan's Five & Dime Store" Lakefield, Ontario. It was discovered in the attic when the McCormack family acquired the store from its original owner in the late 1970s. Est. $5000 - 7000. CODE-SIG
