Canadian. Oxford County. JJ Kenyon (1862-1937). Kenyon was a photographer and painter. He attended fairs to capture images of prize-winning animals, which he later painted. He also painted money portraits of the winning horses at race tracks in New York and Kentucky. Titled lower centre, 'Custodian at 4 Years. Imported by & the property of James Chandler, Ayr, Ontario'. Signed lower left corner, 'J.J. Kenyon'. Sight 23.5" x 17.5". Overall 29.75" x 23.75". Very good untouched condition. Needs cleaning which accounts for the spotting visible on the horse's body. Three minor paint chips in upper left quarter, lower right quarter. Fine overall surface paint crazing, paint tight. $4000/6000. CODE-PFA
